Reviews from Students

  • Classes in KC. 5 stars. Carol knows her stuff and is a patient instructor. -Gregory A
  • Trad Camp 5 Stars. -Maria V
  • Trad Camp 5 Stars. Continued. I should also note I have a hard time visualizing 3D items/dimensions, and despite this everything Carol explained made so much sense. Thank you Carol for an empowering educational weekend! -Maria V
  • Trad Camp 5 Stars. continued. In one weekend Carol broke it down with specific items to evaluate for different types of gear placements, including clear explanation of the physics behind it, other safety items to consider, and how to prioritize/balance different considerations. It was so empowering to get an understanding of what we are looking for and she really demystified the approach to safe trad leading. The course was well balanced, Carol explained things clearly and patiently and created a great environment for asking questions and trying skills and getting feedback. continued. -Maria V
  • Trad Camp 5 Stars. I took Carol's trad leading class at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch this past weekend and can't recommend it enough!! I had previously led trad with the vague notion that your pieces should be "good enough," whatever that means, and you had to climb for a long time to be able to assess this "good enough." Continued. -Maria V
  • Guided Climbing 5 Stars. -Lucy Stun
  • Guided Climbing 5 Stars. Continued. Her stoke for climbing is real and I don’t think I’ve ever met someone that simply loved teaching people new skills. I walked away feeling more confident and honestly just had a lot of fun! Carol not only focused on the tactical aspects of climbing, but she also tapped into some of the psychology of climbing that most guides don’t always touch on. If you get a chance to work with Carol, do it! - Lucy S
  • Guided Climbing 5 stars. I was able to take a one on one course with Carol last year and would highly recommend her as a guide and instructor. I needed help solidifying my knowledge of anchors and work on my fear of leading outside (months of not leading during a pandemic regressed me a bit). Carol is one of the more well rounded and highly experienced guides in KC. She was patient, kind, and had the right sound bites to digest new info in ways that made it easy….. and also old info that help solidify what I already knew. Continued. -Lucy S
  • Staff Training 5 stars. - Will P

  • Staff Training 5 stars. Continued. I would highly recommend Carol to anyone and everyone interested in learning more about climbing, expanding their climbing facility's programs, enhancing safety, and so much more. Our staff loved her and I enjoyed working with her from start to finish. We absolutely plan to utilize her again for future trainings! - Chad V
  • Staff Training 5 Stars Carol was an absolute pleasure to work with. She took the time to work with us to develop a custom curriculum that would fit the needs and experience of our student staff. She even took the time before the class to research and refresh on adaptive climbing, which is an aspect we hoped to incorporate into the offerings at our facility. She worked with our staff to hone their skills, from the very basics of climbing, to teaching others of various abilities and experience, to teaching more advanced climbing and rescue techniques. continued -Chad V
  • Trad Camp 5 Stars -Dan E
  • Trad Camp 5 stars Carol took us through a two-day session where we learned the fundamentals of trad climbing. It was an incredible experience where we were able to safely experience various rock assessment and gear placement from an AMGA certified guide. Highly recommend! Dan E
  • Trad Camp 5 Stars Bryan B
  • Trad Camp 5 Stars Carol is always a blast. The way she thinks through the information she wants to get across to her students is dense, informative, and easy to remember. I would recommend her or this course to anyone interested in upping there climbing knowledge! -Bryan B
